How to Replace an spare audi key smart audi lost key replacement - valetinowiki.racing - G28 Engine Speed Sensor

young-couple-holding-the-keys-of-a-new-car-select-2023-04-03-23-35-08-utc-scaled.jpgCharles the Humble Technician shows you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is situated at the top of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via a grey wire T55/49, then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the outside of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to control boost and fuel. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and where the camshaft lies so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper timing chain. However, the error code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit challenging because there are two pins for the connector and they perform different functions but the most effective way to test it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read approximately 1000 ohms when the sensor is at full operation. If you're experiencing issues with this component, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at full speed I noticed a significant reduction in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs. Three were drenched with gazoline the fourth was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole, and when i start the engine with no sparks, the ones that have gazoline pop right out. The 4th one remains shut. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it works fine when the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when unplugged, still shows a temperature of -49c. Also, i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit is showing 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. But i am afraid i might have missed something. Let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find an extra in a wrecking shop or parts store. It is simple to test them: simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and determine the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing up). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that must be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make decisions regarding fuel injector timing etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If either of these goes bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner that could cause engine shut down.

A failing G28 sensor could cause an inaccurate gearbox speed counter and a gearbox which shifts faster than normal, or a misfire in gear. If you experience any of these issues it is likely your sensor is going bad and requires audi a1 key replacement. They're cheap and easy to find, especially if they're a Bosch sensor like ours. Alternatively, GM's version of this part would be an option.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine sensor can cause a myriad of issues within your vehicle. It's a crucial component of the transmission in your audi q7 key because it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slowly the engine of the car is turning. This sensor could cause the transmission to malfunction and other components of the car to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear and sends a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 through a grey wire. The ECU is then able to process the signal to control fuel, timig, and boost as well as sends it on to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can determine if the sensor is in failure by examining the continuity of the sensor to the tachometer. Additionally, you can check continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. You should observe around 1000 ohms of resistance between these two points. This is a common component across the audi a1 key replacement 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC through the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best ones could be available in wrecking yards.
